Alan Samsky joined Silverman Consulting in June 2007 bringing 25 years of experience in financial and operational turnarounds, crisis management, asset and business dispositions, forensic accounting, and auditing. Mr. Samsky assists businesses in maximizing their value by returning them to profitability, or in some situations, selling the on-going business or the company’s assets.
He develops and implements strategies and tactics to improve revenue, customer profitability and lower a company’s cost structure. Mr. Samsky manages cash flow in the most extreme circumstances and creates liquidity as well as negotiates standstill and repayment agreements with secured and unsecured creditors to buy time that’s necessary to implement a turnaround plan. In addition, he negotiates price increases with customers, implements inventory reduction programs, and sells non-core assets.
Mr. Samsky has experience in various industries including heavy and light manufacturing, food processing, warehouse and distribution, professional services, specialty services, healthcare, printing and publishing, public transportation, trucking, retailing, education, and health and human services.
Prior to joining Silverman Consulting, Mr. Samsky was a managing director of another turnaround and management consulting practice. He represented troubled companies, secured creditors, creditor committees, bondholders and equity groups in and out of bankruptcy and other judicial proceedings.
Mr. Samsky, a CPA, received his Bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois, and is a Certified Turnaround Professional. He has lectured to members of various industry associations, professional societies and written several articles published in various trade journals and other publications.
Mr. Samsky is a member of the Board of Directors of the Rory David Deutsch Foundation, a charitable foundation for pediatric brain tumor research, and also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Program at Duke University Medical Center.
